Looking back over our history, we see
that the ACLU has strongly identified
with the Statue of Liberty.
The liberty image was largely dropped
from the identity in the 80's. The current
logo -- see '1984' above -- was created
for an annual report and gradually
evolved into the official ACLU logo.
