The ACLU's previous identity was based on
a signature with 4 components -- name,
logo/ acronym, symbol and seal -- that
have been combined in a variety of ways.
Many of the components, such as the
logo were created, ad hoc, for printed
publications and then used as our identity.
No two ACLU publications use the
signature elements in the same
arrangement.
